Possible Causes
Hopper not rotated to lock position, Broken hopper lock tab, Faulty hopper lock microswitch, Debris preventing full lock
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the machine before removing the hopper.
- Remove and reseat hopper:
- Empty beans from the hopper.
- Reinstall the hopper and rotate it firmly to the LOCK position until it clicks.
- Inspect lock tab: Check the underside of the hopper for a plastic tab that actuates the internal switch; if broken, the machine will not detect the lock.
- Clean area: Remove any coffee grounds or debris around the hopper mount that may prevent full rotation.
- Internal switch (advanced):
- Locate the hopper lock microswitch inside the grinder housing.
- Test it manually to confirm it changes state when pressed.
- Repair: Replace the bean hopper if the lock tab is broken. Replace the hopper lock microswitch if it is not functioning.
