Possible Causes
Empty or incorrectly seated water tank, faulty water level float magnet, defective reed switch on chassis, limescale blocking water inlet from tank
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine before removing the water tank or accessing internal parts.
- Check water tank: Remove the tank, fill it to at least the MIN mark with fresh water, and reseat it firmly until it clicks into place.
- Inspect float: Look inside the tank for the small plastic float. It should move freely up and down. If stuck, rinse the tank with warm water and mild detergent, then flush thoroughly.
- Clean tank magnet area: Wipe the side of the tank where the float magnet sits and the corresponding area on the machine body to remove scale or debris.
- Descale inlet: Run a descaling cycle to clear limescale from the tank outlet and inlet valve. Follow Senseo’s descaling instructions.
- If still in error: The internal reed switch that senses the float magnet may be defective and requires replacement by a technician.
