Brewed coffee has a plastic or chemical taste or smell.

Safety first: Do not use harsh chemicals inside the coffee maker. Unplug before cleaning.

• 1. Initial cleaning cycles
  • Before first use or after long storage, run 2–3 full cycles with fresh water only.
• 2. Mild vinegar rinse
  • Run a cycle with a 1:3 vinegar to water solution, then follow with 2–3 clean water cycles.
• 3. Replace water filter
  • If equipped, replace the charcoal water filter cartridge, which can impart off-flavors when old.
• 4. Avoid scented detergents
  • Wash removable parts with unscented dish soap and rinse thoroughly.
