Possible Causes
Carafe not on warming plate, Misaligned carafe lid not depressing drip-stop, Faulty carafe presence switch, Broken drip-stop lever
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker before reaching under the filter basket.
- 1. Position the carafe correctly
- Place the carafe squarely on the warming plate and push it fully back until it stops.
- Ensure the lid is properly attached and closed so it contacts the drip-stop mechanism.
- 2. Test drip-stop
- Open the filter basket and manually press the drip-stop lever.
- You should feel smooth movement; if sticky, clean with warm soapy water and dry.
- 3. Check for obstructions
- Make sure no coffee grounds or filter paper are preventing the basket from closing fully.
- 4. Inspect carafe switch (advanced)
- Unplug the unit and remove the bottom cover.
- Locate the carafe presence microswitch under the warming plate and verify that its actuator moves when the carafe is pressed down.
- Reseat any loose wiring connectors.
- 5. Replace damaged parts
- If the microswitch is broken or the drip-stop lever is cracked, replace the affected part with the correct Sunbeam component.
