Possible Causes
Water reservoir below minimum level, Reservoir not fully seated on base, Faulty float or water level sensor, Debris blocking sensor magnet movement
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker before removing the reservoir if the unit has been heating.
- 1. Fill and reseat reservoir
- Remove the reservoir and fill it above the MIN line with fresh water.
- Reinstall it firmly, ensuring it clicks or seats fully into place.
- 2. Check for trapped air
- After filling, gently tap the sides of the reservoir to release any trapped air bubbles around the float.
- 3. Clean the float and sensor area
- Look for a floating piece inside the reservoir; ensure it moves freely.
- Clean with mild dish soap and water, then rinse thoroughly.
- 4. Sensor inspection (advanced)
- If the message persists with a full reservoir, unplug the unit and remove the bottom cover.
- Locate the water level sensor or reed switch under the reservoir area and check for loose wiring or damage.
- 5. Replace faulty sensor
- If the float is waterlogged or the reed switch is defective, replace the water reservoir sensor assembly with a compatible Sunbeam part.
