How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the unit to cool before handling the reservoir or filter basket. Unplug during extended cleaning.
- 1. Run a full descale cycle
- Fill the water reservoir with a 1:1 mixture of white vinegar and water up to the MAX line.
- Place an empty carafe on the warming plate and ensure the filter basket is empty.
- Select the CLEAN cycle if your Sunbeam model has one, or start a regular brew cycle and pause halfway for 15–20 minutes to let the solution soak.
- Resume and complete the cycle, then discard the solution.
- 2. Rinse thoroughly
- Run 2–3 full cycles with fresh water only to remove any vinegar taste.
- 3. Reset the CLEAN indicator
- On many Sunbeam models, press and hold the CLEAN button for 3–5 seconds after descaling to clear the reminder.
- If there is no dedicated CLEAN button, consult the user manual for the specific reset combination (often holding the brew or program button).
- 4. Prevent future buildup
- Use filtered or softened water where possible.
- Descale every 1–3 months depending on water hardness and usage.
