Display shows E2 and the coffee maker will not heat or brew.

Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker and allow the warming plate and internal boiler to cool completely before touching any components.

• 1. Power cycle
  • Unplug the unit for at least 5 minutes to allow the control board to fully discharge.
  • Plug it back in and attempt to start a brew cycle to see if E2 clears.
• 2. Clean around the warming plate
  • Turn the unit upside down (unplugged) and inspect the underside of the warming plate area.
  • Wipe away any coffee spills or corrosion that might bridge sensor contacts.
• 3. Inspect thermistor wiring (advanced)
  • Remove the bottom cover to access the heating plate assembly.
  • Locate the small sensor (thermistor) attached to or near the warming plate or boiler tube.
  • Check that its wires are intact and the connector is firmly seated on the control board.
• 4. Do not bypass the sensor
  • Never short or bypass the thermistor to force the heater on; this is a fire and burn hazard.
• 5. Replacement
  • If the thermistor is cracked, burnt, or its leads are broken, it must be replaced with a compatible Sunbeam thermistor assembly.
  • If the thermistor tests good but E2 persists, the main control board temperature circuit is likely faulty and should be replaced or serviced by a technician.
