Possible Causes
Severe scale buildup in inlet tube or boiler, Air lock in pump, Faulty vibration pump, Clogged inlet screen on reservoir base
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool before removing the reservoir or opening any covers.
- 1. Check reservoir outlet
- Remove the reservoir and inspect the outlet valve or screen for debris.
- Rinse under running water and clean with a soft brush.
- 2. Descale the system
- Fill the reservoir with a 1:1 vinegar and water solution.
- Start a brew cycle and, if flow begins, pause halfway for 15–20 minutes to dissolve scale.
- Resume and complete the cycle, then run 2–3 clean water cycles.
- 3. Clear air lock
- With the unit unplugged and cool, remove the reservoir and gently tap the base of the machine to dislodge air bubbles.
- Refill and reseat the reservoir firmly.
- 4. Inspect pump (advanced)
- Unplug and remove the bottom cover.
- Locate the vibration pump and check for kinked silicone hoses or visible leaks.
- Ensure hose clamps are tight and hoses are not collapsed.
- 5. Replace pump if necessary
- If the pump hums but does not move water even after descaling, it may be worn or blocked internally and should be replaced with a compatible Sunbeam pump assembly.
