Swan
Under-extraction / Incorrect Brew Ratio
Swan coffee maker produces weak coffee even when using normal amounts of grounds.

Possible Causes
Water passing too quickly through grounds, Incorrect grind size (too coarse), Brew temperature too low, Bypass valve stuck open (on advanced models)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug before internal inspection; external adjustments can be done with the unit off.
Brewing adjustments:
- Grind size: Use a medium grind suitable for drip coffee; too coarse will yield weak coffee.
- Coffee dose: Follow Swan's recommended coffee-to-water ratio (typically 6–7 g per 100 ml).
- Use "strong" mode: If your Swan model has a strength selector, choose a stronger setting to slow the flow.
Temperature and flow:
- Ensure the machine is fully heated before brewing; some models preheat water.
- If coffee remains weak despite correct grind and dose, the brew temperature may be low or a bypass valve may be diverting water around the grounds. In that case, the thermostat or valve assembly may need service.
