Possible Causes
Coffee left too long on hot warming plate, Warming plate thermostat stuck on high, Too fine grind or too much coffee, Brew cycle too slow due to scale
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug before touching the warming plate; it can be very hot.
- Limit keep-warm time: Turn off the coffee maker or remove the carafe from the warming plate within 30–60 minutes of brewing.
- Adjust coffee and grind: Use a medium grind and avoid overpacking the filter. Follow T-fal's recommended coffee quantity.
- Descale: Run a descaling cycle to restore normal flow and brew time, preventing over-extraction.
- Monitor plate temperature: If the plate seems excessively hot (coffee boils or steams heavily), discontinue use and have the thermostat checked.
Persistent burnt taste even with fresh coffee and proper use may indicate a faulty warming plate thermostat that should be replaced.
