Possible Causes
Worn or misaligned drip-stop valve, Broken spring in drip-stop mechanism, Cracked filter basket, Debris preventing valve from sealing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug and allow the coffee maker to cool before removing the filter basket.
- Clean the drip-stop: Remove the filter basket and locate the drip-stop valve at the bottom. Rinse thoroughly and clean around the seal with warm, soapy water.
- Check spring action: Press the valve stem up and down; it should move freely and spring back. If it sticks, soak in hot water to dissolve residue.
- Inspect for cracks: Examine the basket and valve housing for cracks or deformation. Replace the basket if damaged.
- Verify carafe fit: Ensure the carafe lid presses fully against the drip-stop. Misaligned or non-original carafes may not open the valve correctly.
If the valve does not seal even when clean and intact, replace the filter basket or drip-stop assembly.
