Possible Causes
Descaling cycle not completed correctly, Incorrect use of service T DISC, Faulty descaling/program memory in control board, Dirty barcode reader failing to detect service disc
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep the machine on a stable surface. Avoid opening the housing.
- Repeat descaling correctly: Insert the yellow/orange service T DISC in the brew head, fill the tank with descaling solution as per Tassimo instructions, and run the full descaling program without interruption.
- Rinse thoroughly: After descaling, run multiple rinse cycles with fresh water until the tank is empty to ensure the machine registers completion.
- Clean barcode reader: Gently wipe the barcode scanner window (inside the brew head) with a soft, slightly damp cloth to remove residue that may prevent reading the service disc.
- Power reset: Unplug the machine for 5 minutes, then plug back in and check if the descaling light has cleared.
- If still stuck: The control board may not be storing the descaling status correctly. This requires diagnostic and possible replacement of the main PCB by a qualified technician.
