Air Entrapment / Partial Blockage in Boiler Circuit
Gurgling or sputtering noises are unusually loud during brewing
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Scale buildup causing uneven boiling, Air pockets in silicone hoses, Loose hose connection drawing in air, Low water level in reservoir during brew
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Hot water and steam can cause burns; keep hands away from outlet arm during brewing.
- Check water level: Always fill the reservoir to the intended brew volume; avoid running the boiler nearly dry.
- Descale: Perform a full descaling cycle to remove scale that can cause noisy boiling and sputtering.
- Inspect hoses (advanced): Remove the base and check that all silicone hoses are firmly attached and not cracked. Replace any that appear hardened or loose.
- Test after service: Reassemble and run a test brew. Some gurgling is normal, but excessively loud sputtering should be reduced.
