Technivorm Moccamaster
Partial Scale Restriction in Boiler Circuit
Water flows very slowly; brew time is much longer than normal
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Moderate lime scale buildup in copper boiler, Partially clogged outlet arm, Mineral deposits in silicone tubing, Restricted check valve at boiler outlet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Allow the unit to cool and unplug before handling.
- Deep descaling:
- Use a dedicated descaling product suitable for Technivorm Moccamaster or a 1:1 white vinegar and water solution.
- Fill the reservoir and run a full brew cycle.
- Let the unit sit for 30 minutes with power off, then run another cycle with the same solution if heavy scale is suspected.
- Rinse with 2–3 full reservoirs of fresh water.
- Clean outlet arm: Remove the outlet arm and soak it in hot water with a bit of dish soap. Use a thin brush to scrub inside, then rinse.
- Check brew basket: Ensure the brew basket drip-stop mechanism is not stuck partially closed. Clean and move it through its full range.
- Inspect silicone hoses (advanced): If flow is still slow, remove the base and inspect the silicone hoses for kinks or internal scale. Replace any hardened or clogged hoses.
