Machine shows E06 and the brew head or capsule holder does not move to the correct position.

Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker. Do not force the brew head while the machine is powered.

Steps:

• Remove capsule or pod: Open the capsule holder or filter compartment and remove any capsule, pod, or filter. Check for crushed capsules or foreign objects.
• Clean the brew area: Wipe away loose coffee grounds around the brew head, capsule piercers, and moving arms. Sticky residue can block movement.
• Reset the brew group: On models with a removable brew group, take it out according to the manual, rinse it under warm water, dry thoroughly, and reinstall it firmly until it clicks.
• Check for mechanical jams: With the unit unplugged, gently move the brew head or lever through its range of motion. If it binds, inspect for broken plastic pieces or misaligned gears.
• Access the drive motor (advanced): Remove the side or top cover to locate the brew group motor and gear train. Look for stripped gears, loose screws, or obstructions.
• Inspect position sensors: Many Tefal models use small microswitches or Hall sensors to detect brew group position. Ensure actuators are not bent and that switches click when pressed.
• Reassemble and test: Refit all parts, plug in, and power on. The machine may attempt a self-reset of the brew group. If E06 persists, the motor or sensor assembly may require replacement.
