Possible Causes
Internal hose leak, Drip tray full sensor activated, Water in base pan triggering float switch, Cracked boiler or fitting
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker immediately if you suspect an internal leak. Water and electricity are a dangerous combination.
Steps:
- Empty external drip tray: Remove and empty the drip tray and used capsule container. Clean and dry them thoroughly.
- Check for external leaks: Inspect around the water tank, base, and front panel for visible water.
- Access base pan (advanced): Remove the bottom cover to inspect the internal base. Many Tefal models have a float or sensor that detects water here.
- Dry the interior: If water is present, soak it up with paper towels and allow the machine to air dry for 24 hours in a warm, dry place.
- Identify leak source: Examine hoses, clamps, and fittings around the pump, boiler, and brew head for signs of dripping or mineral trails. Tighten loose clamps and replace cracked hoses.
- Reassemble and test: After ensuring everything is dry and secure, reassemble and test with the machine placed on a dry paper towel to detect any new leaks. If E15 returns or leaks persist, professional service is recommended.
