Possible Causes

Thermostat not reaching proper brew temperature, Scale affecting temperature sensor, Incorrect grind size or filter type, Bypass valve stuck open (on some models)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug before internal checks.

  • Adjust coffee preparation: Use a slightly finer grind (but not espresso fine) and ensure the correct filter size for your Tristar model.
  • Descale: Run a descaling cycle to restore proper heat transfer and temperature sensing.
  • Preheat: Run a short brew cycle with just water to preheat the system before brewing coffee.
  • Internal check (advanced): Inspect the thermostat and thermistor on the thermoblock for secure mounting. A loose sensor can misread temperature.

Note: If coffee remains consistently weak despite proper preparation and descaling, the thermostat or control board may not be heating to the correct temperature.
