Possible Causes
Stuck brew head valve due to scale, Faulty brew head microswitch, Misaligned brew group (on capsule models), Broken valve actuator
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug and allow the unit to cool before working near the brew head.
- Clean brew head: Remove the filter basket or capsule holder. Wipe the brew head area thoroughly, removing coffee oils and residue. Use a pin to clear any visible nozzle holes.
- Descale: Run a descaling cycle to clear internal valves and passages.
- Check mechanical movement: On Tristar capsule or pod models, open and close the lever several times. It should move smoothly and fully lock. If it feels stiff or does not fully close, inspect for obstructions.
- Inspect microswitch (advanced): Access the brew head mechanism from the side or top. Locate the small microswitch that detects the closed position of the brew head/lever. Ensure the actuator tab is not broken and that the switch clicks when pressed. Replace if faulty.
Note: Persistent E7 after cleaning and descaling usually indicates a mechanical failure in the brew head assembly that may require part replacement.
