Possible Causes
Empty reservoir during previous cycle, Blocked inlet valve on water tank, Cracked or loose intake hose, Faulty air bleed valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker before handling water connections.
- Refill and reseat tank: Fill the Tristar reservoir to the MAX line and push it firmly into place until it clicks or sits flush.
- Clear inlet valve: Inspect the bottom of the tank for a spring-loaded valve. Press it gently with a blunt object under running water to ensure it opens freely and is not clogged.
- Prime the system: Plug the unit back in. Start a brew cycle without coffee and, if your model allows, open the hot water/steam outlet briefly to help purge air. Repeat 2–3 times.
- Check for leaks (advanced): Remove the back cover and inspect the silicone intake hose from the tank connection to the pump. Tighten any hose clamps and replace cracked hoses.
Note: If E8 persists and the pump runs but no water moves, the pump or internal intake valve may need replacement.
