Possible Causes
Scale blockage in steam thermoblock, Blocked steam wand or nozzle, Failing steam pump (if separate from brew pump), Faulty steam solenoid valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the machine and allow it to cool. Steam pressure can cause burns.
- Clean steam wand: Remove the steam tip/nozzle and soak it in hot water with a milk system cleaner. Use a fine needle to clear any blocked holes.
- Run steam purge: If possible, run a steam purge cycle with the wand pointed into a container. Intermittently open and close the steam valve to dislodge scale.
- Descale steam circuit: Run a full descaling cycle, ensuring the program includes the steam circuit. Follow Zwilling's instructions and use approved descaler.
- Inspect internal components: With the unit unplugged, remove covers to access the steam thermoblock, steam solenoid valve, and associated hoses. Check for kinks or blockages.
- Test solenoid valve: During a steam command (with caution and covers in place), listen for a clicking sound from the steam solenoid. No click may indicate a failed coil.
- Replace blocked or failed parts: Replace the steam wand, steam solenoid valve, or steam thermoblock if they remain blocked or non-functional after cleaning.
