Possible Causes
Overfilled dirt bin, Clogged nozzle channel, Damaged nozzle lip seal, Incorrect height or mode for floor type
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and remove the battery before cleaning the nozzle.
- Empty bin: Ensure the dirt bin is emptied before it reaches the MAX line.
- Clean nozzle channel: Remove the brush roll and clear any compacted debris from the suction channel and front edge.
- Inspect nozzle seal: Check the rubber lip or squeegee at the front of the nozzle for tears or warping. Replace the nozzle or seal if damaged.
- Use correct mode: For hard floors, use the appropriate setting or accessory to prevent scattering. For carpets, ensure the brush is enabled.
- Test on different surfaces: If spitting occurs only on certain floor types, consider using a specialized Bissell hard floor tool or soft roller nozzle if available for your model.
