Possible Causes
Blocked airflow in wand or nozzle, Severely clogged filters, Motor cooling vents obstructed, Failing motor overheating under normal load
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the vacuum OFF, remove the battery pack, and allow the unit to cool for at least 30 minutes before further inspection.
- Check airflow path: Detach the dirt bin, wand, and nozzle. Inspect all passages for blockages. Clear any debris from the wand, nozzle neck, and cyclone inlets.
- Clean all filters: Remove pre-motor and post-motor filters (HEPA or foam). Tap off loose dust, then rinse washable filters with cool water only. Do not use detergents. Allow filters to dry completely (24 hours) before reinstalling.
- Inspect cooling vents: Look for dust buildup on the motor housing vents and around the main body. Use a soft brush or compressed air (short bursts) to clear dust, keeping the nozzle at a distance to avoid forcing debris into the motor.
- Reduce load: Use lower power mode for thick carpets or heavy debris. Continuous use on MAX mode can trigger thermal protection more quickly.
- Evaluate motor condition: If E4 appears even with clean filters and clear airflow, and the vacuum feels unusually hot or smells burnt, the motor assembly may be failing and should be replaced.
