Possible Causes

Battery pack overheated from extended high-power use, Blocked airflow causing motor to draw excessive current, Faulty temperature sensor in battery pack, Using non-genuine or incompatible battery

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch OFF the vacuum and remove the battery pack. Allow components to cool before handling.

  • Allow cooling time: If the vacuum was used continuously on high power, let the battery and motor cool for at least 30 minutes in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight.
  • Check airflow: Remove the dust bin, primary filter, and pre-filter. Empty the bin and clean filters according to the manual (tap gently or wash if washable, then dry completely). Check the nozzle, wand, and cyclonic inlet for clogs.
  • Inspect vents: Ensure the motor housing vents on the handheld unit are not blocked by dust or fabric.
  • Try again with cooled battery: Reinstall the battery and test on low power first. If E2 persists immediately, the battery's temperature or current sensor may be faulty.
  • Test with another battery: If available, try a second genuine Black+Decker battery. If the error clears, replace the original battery pack.

If the error occurs with multiple batteries and after cleaning, the motor or control board may be drawing excessive current and should be inspected by a service technician.
