Possible Causes
Filter not seated correctly, Filter door or bin not latched, Broken filter presence microswitch, Damaged filter frame
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery before adjusting the bin or filter.
- Re-seat the filter: Remove the dust bin and take out the pre-filter and main filter. Reinstall them carefully, ensuring they are oriented and fully seated as shown in the user manual.
- Check bin and filter door: Close the dust bin and any filter access door firmly until you hear a click. Some models have an interlock that prevents operation if not fully closed.
- Inspect latches and tabs: Look for cracked plastic tabs on the bin or filter frame that might prevent proper engagement of the safety switch.
- Test the switch: With the battery removed, gently press the filter-door area and listen/feel for a small click from the microswitch. If the switch feels loose or does not click, it may be faulty.
- Replace damaged parts: Replace a broken dust bin, filter frame, or have the filter-door microswitch replaced by a technician.
