Faulty battery pack sense line, Damaged battery management IC, Loose connector between battery and PCB, Non-genuine battery without proper communication
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery before inspection.
- Clean and reseat battery: Wipe contacts and reinstall the battery firmly until it clicks.
- Try another battery: If available, test with a genuine Black+Decker battery. If the gauge behaves normally, replace the original pack.
- Reset electronics: With the battery removed, hold the trigger for 10–15 seconds, then reinstall the battery and test.
- Service if persistent: If F5 appears with multiple batteries, the main PCB's sensing circuit is likely faulty and should be replaced.
