Possible Causes
Hair and threads wrapped around brush roll, Foreign object jammed in floor nozzle, Worn or damaged brush roll end bearings, Faulty brush motor in motorized floor head
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch OFF the vacuum and remove the battery pack before working on the motorized floor head. Never put fingers near the brush while power is connected.
- Step 1 – Remove floor nozzle: Detach the motorized floor head from the wand or main body.
- Step 2 – Access brush roll: On most Bomann cordless models, the brush roll can be removed by opening a side cover or releasing a locking tab. Refer to your user manual for the exact method.
- Step 3 – Clear obstructions: Use scissors to carefully cut away hair, threads, and fibers from the brush roll and end caps. Remove any debris lodged in the suction channel.
- Step 4 – Check brush bearings: Spin the brush roll by hand. It should rotate smoothly. If it feels rough, stiff, or wobbly, the end bearings may be worn and the brush roll should be replaced.
- Step 5 – Inspect brush motor contacts: Look at the electrical contacts between the wand and floor head. Clean them gently with a dry cloth. Ensure there is no melted plastic or burn marks.
- Step 6 – Reassemble and test: Refit the brush roll and close all covers securely. Reattach the nozzle, insert the battery, and test on a low power setting. If the brush still does not spin and E4 reappears, the brush motor or internal wiring in the floor head may be defective.
If replacing the brush roll does not resolve the issue, the complete motorized floor nozzle assembly may need replacement.
