Static Electricity Build-up
Vacuum intermittently shocks the user with small static discharges during use
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Dry indoor air and synthetic carpets, Plastic wand and nozzle generating static, User not grounded, Lack of anti-static path in accessories
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: These are usually low-energy static shocks, but if you feel strong shocks or see sparks near the battery area, stop using the vacuum and seek service.
- Step 1 – Increase humidity: Use a humidifier in very dry environments to reduce static build-up.
- Step 2 – Change footwear or surface: Avoid using the vacuum in socks on synthetic carpets; wear shoes with conductive soles.
- Step 3 – Touch grounded object: Before vacuuming, touch a grounded metal object (like a radiator) to discharge static.
Static shocks from the wand or nozzle are generally not a fault in the vacuum. However, if shocks appear to come from the battery or handle electronics, have the unit inspected.
