Bomann
Odor Contamination / Dirty Filters and Bin
Vacuum runs but emits a strong dusty or musty odor from the exhaust

Possible Causes
Dust bin not cleaned regularly, Filters saturated with fine dust and organic material, Moist debris causing mildew in bin, Pet hair buildup in cyclone and filters
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the vacuum, remove the battery pack, and work in a well-ventilated area. Do not use harsh chemicals inside the vacuum.
- Step 1 – Thoroughly clean dust bin: Empty the bin and wipe it with a slightly damp cloth. If the manual allows, wash the bin with mild soapy water, rinse well, and dry completely before reinstalling.
- Step 2 – Clean or replace filters: Tap out dust from pre-motor and HEPA filters. If washable per manual, rinse with lukewarm water and let dry for at least 24 hours. Replace filters that remain smelly or discolored.
- Step 3 – Check for wet debris: Never vacuum wet materials with a Bomann cordless vacuum. If you have, inspect for mold or residue and clean affected plastic parts thoroughly.
- Step 4 – Deodorize gently: After cleaning and drying, you can place a small amount of baking soda in the bin (not on filters) for a short time, then empty before use.
Persistent odors after cleaning may indicate deeply contaminated filters or internal foam parts, which should be replaced.
