Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the vacuum is switched off and the charger is unplugged before inspecting any parts. Do not open the battery pack casing itself.
- Check the charger and outlet: Plug a lamp or phone charger into the same socket to confirm it has power. Inspect the Bush charger for damage, kinks, or burn marks. If the charger LED does not light when plugged into the wall, replace the charger.
- Reseat the battery pack: On Bush cordless stick models with a removable battery, press the release catch and slide the battery out. Inspect the battery contacts and the mating contacts on the vacuum body for dust, corrosion, or bent pins. Wipe gently with a dry cloth and reinsert firmly until it clicks.
- Force a reset: With the battery installed, hold the power button down for 10–15 seconds, then release and try again. Some Bush control PCBs will reset the protection circuit this way.
- Test with another battery if available: If you have a second Bush-compatible battery (same voltage and connector), install it and try to power on. If the vacuum works with the second battery, the original battery pack has failed and should be replaced.
- Inspect the handle switch: On models with a trigger or push button, check that it moves freely and is not jammed with dust. If the button feels loose or does nothing even with a known-good battery, the main PCB or switch assembly is likely faulty and should be replaced as a unit.
If the unit still shows no signs of life with a confirmed working charger and battery, the main control PCB or internal wiring harness is likely defective. At this point, replacement of the main PCB or professional service is recommended.
