Possible Causes
Heavily clogged HEPA filter, Incorrect filter fitted, Filter not seated correctly, Faulty filter presence sensor or microswitch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery before removing filters.
- Remove and inspect filters: Take out the pre-motor and HEPA/post-motor filters. If they are visibly dirty or grey, clean or replace them. Follow the Bush manual for washing instructions; most foam filters can be rinsed, while some HEPA cartridges must be replaced rather than washed.
- Dry thoroughly: If washed, allow filters to air-dry for at least 24 hours. Never use a hairdryer or heater, as this can warp the filter media.
- Check filter seating: Refit the filters, ensuring they are fully seated and the filter cover clicks into place. Some Bush models use a small switch or magnet sensor to detect the filter cover; if it is not closed properly, E8 may appear.
- Inspect sensor area: Look for a small plastic plunger or magnet near the filter cover. Ensure it moves freely and is not obstructed by dust. Clean gently with a dry brush.
- Test: Reinstall the battery and power on. If E8 persists with clean, correctly fitted filters, the filter sensor or main PCB may be faulty and require replacement.
