Possible Causes

Deeply discharged lithium battery pack, Faulty battery management system (BMS) PCB in battery, Damaged battery connector pins, Failed battery cells

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the charger from the mains before handling the vacuum. Do not open the battery pack casing; lithium cells can be dangerous if punctured or shorted.

Step-by-step:

  • 1. Remove and reseat the battery: On Candy cordless models with a removable pack, press the release tabs and slide the battery out. Inspect the contacts on both the battery and the vacuum body for bent pins, corrosion, or debris. Clean gently with a dry cloth and reseat firmly until it clicks.
  • 2. Attempt a recovery charge: Place the vacuum on the original Candy charger or docking station. Ensure the charger LED comes on. Leave it connected for at least 3–4 hours even if the LEDs flash. Some BMS boards will reset after a slow recovery charge.
  • 3. Check the charger output: Using a multimeter (if you are competent to do so), measure the charger output at the plug. Compare to the rating on the charger label (typically 21–30 V DC for Candy cordless vacuums). If there is no output or it is far below spec, replace the charger.
  • 4. Try power-on with charger connected: With the battery installed and charger plugged in, briefly press the power button. If the vacuum runs only when on the charger, the battery pack is likely defective.
  • 5. Replace the battery pack: If E1 persists after a full charge and the charger tests good, the internal BMS or cells are likely faulty. Replace the complete Candy battery pack with the exact model specified in your user manual. Do not attempt to rebuild or open the pack.

When to call a technician: If the battery becomes hot, swollen, or emits odor, stop using it immediately and contact Candy service or a qualified technician for safe disposal and replacement.
