DeWalt
Excessive Current Draw / Battery Overheating
Battery becomes very hot to the touch after short use in the vacuum

Possible Causes
Severely clogged filters causing high load, Shorted motor windings, Using low-capacity battery under heavy load, Poor ventilation around battery
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Stop use immediately and remove the battery. Allow it to cool in a well-ventilated area away from flammable materials.
- Clean filters and airflow path: Ensure all filters are clean and airflow is not restricted.
- Use appropriate battery: For heavy-duty use, use higher Ah DeWalt batteries designed for sustained current draw.
- Test with another battery: If multiple batteries overheat quickly, the motor may be drawing excessive current and should be inspected or replaced.
- Replace suspect battery: If only one battery overheats while others remain normal, retire and replace that pack.
