Possible Causes
Defective high-speed circuit on control PCB, Weak battery unable to supply current, Short in high-speed winding or wiring, Faulty mode selector switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Remove the battery before inspecting switches or wiring.
- Test with fully charged, high-capacity battery: Use a DeWalt XR or higher Ah battery to ensure adequate current supply.
- Check mode selector: If your model has a physical high/low switch, ensure it moves positively into each position and is not loose or damaged.
- Inspect wiring to mode switch: Look for loose or broken wires between the switch and control PCB.
- Run in low mode: If the vacuum runs normally in low but trips in high even with a good battery, the high-speed circuit or motor may be failing.
- Resolution: Replace the mode selector switch or control PCB as required. If the motor draws excessive current only in high mode, replace the motor assembly.
