Possible Causes
Worn carbon brushes, Dirty commutator, Debris inside motor, Overloaded motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Remove the battery immediately. Do not continue to run a motor that is sparking heavily.
- Determine motor type: Many newer DeWalt cordless vacuums use brushless motors; if so, sparking is abnormal and indicates a fault.
- Inspect motor (if serviceable): For brushed motors, check brush length and spring tension. Replace worn brushes with correct DeWalt parts.
- Clean motor: Blow out dust and debris from the motor housing with compressed air.
- Resolution: If sparking persists or the motor is brushless, replace the entire motor assembly.
