Possible Causes
Broken or stretched drive belt (belt-drive models), Seized brushroll bearings, Failed brushroll motor in nozzle
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery before working near the brushroll.
- Step 1 – Remove floor nozzle cover: Release the cover using screws or tabs.
- Step 2 – Inspect belt: On belt-driven Dirt Devil cordless heads, check if the belt is broken, melted, or loose. Replace if damaged.
- Step 3 – Check brushroll: Remove the brushroll and clean hair and debris from bristles and end caps. Spin by hand to ensure free movement.
- Step 4 – Test motor: With the brushroll removed and cover off, briefly power the unit (battery installed) and see if the motor shaft spins. If not, the motor or internal PCB is faulty.
- Step 5 – Replace parts: Replace the belt, brushroll, or entire motorized nozzle assembly as needed.
