Battery Pack Undervoltage Lockout
Cordless vacuum will not power on, red LED flashes one time repeatedly when power button is pressed

Possible Causes
Depleted lithium‑ion battery pack, Failed battery protection PCB, Loose battery pack connection to main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the power switch OFF and remove the battery pack (if removable). Do not attempt to open the battery pack case; cells can be hazardous.
- Step 1 – Verify charging: Place the Dirt Devil cordless vacuum on its original charger or docking station. Confirm the charger LED comes on and that the vacuum's charge indicator lights begin to sequence. If no lights appear, test a different outlet.
- Step 2 – Inspect battery contacts: Remove the battery (for models with slide‑out packs). Check the metal contacts on both the battery and the vacuum for corrosion, bent pins, or debris. Clean gently with a dry cloth; do not use liquids.
- Step 3 – Charge fully: Allow the unit to charge for at least 4–6 hours (or the time specified in the Dirt Devil manual). If the E1 pattern persists immediately after a full charge, the pack may be below safe voltage and locked out.
- Step 4 – Reseat or replace battery: Reseat the battery firmly until it clicks. Try powering on again. If the vacuum still shows E1 and will not run, replace the battery pack with a genuine Dirt Devil lithium‑ion battery compatible with your model.
- When to stop: If the new battery does not resolve the issue, the battery protection PCB or main control board may be faulty. Do not bypass safety circuits; contact a qualified service technician.
