Possible Causes
Clogged pre-motor filter, Blocked cyclone shroud, Saturated HEPA exhaust filter
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the vacuum and remove the battery before removing filters.
- Step 1 – Remove and empty dirt cup: Detach the dirt container and empty it. Tap the cyclone shroud gently to remove fine dust.
- Step 2 – Clean pre-motor filter: Remove the foam or pleated pre-motor filter. Tap it against the inside of a trash can to dislodge dust. If the manual allows, rinse with lukewarm water only and let it air dry for 24 hours.
- Step 3 – Clean or replace HEPA filter: Access the exhaust/HEPA filter at the rear or top of the unit. Tap gently to remove dust. If heavily discolored or damaged, replace with a Dirt Devil HEPA filter designed for your model.
- Step 4 – Check sensor port: Some models use a pressure sensor port near the cyclone. Ensure it is not blocked by dust; gently blow air across it (do not insert tools).
- Step 5 – Reset indicator: After reinstalling dry filters, press and hold the filter reset button (if equipped) for the time specified in the manual to clear F2.
