Possible Causes
Dislodged internal connector, Cracked PCB from impact, Faulty tilt/impact sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery and keep the unit unplugged from the charger.
- Step 1 – Visual inspection: Check the exterior for cracks, especially around the handle and motor housing. If the casing is broken, internal components may be misaligned.
- Step 2 – Reseat connectors: If comfortable, open the housing and carefully reseat all wiring harness connectors on the main board and motor. Look for any loose or partially unplugged connectors.
- Step 3 – Check sensor: Locate the small tilt/impact sensor (often a small cylindrical or rectangular component). Ensure it is not broken off the board.
- Step 4 – Test: Reassemble the unit, reinstall the battery, and test. If F3 persists, the PCB may be cracked or the sensor permanently damaged.
- Step 5 – Replace main board: Replace the main control board or entire motor housing assembly as specified by Dirt Devil for your model.
