Possible Causes
Dirty or damp filters, Organic debris left in dirt cup, Mold growth in cyclone or hose
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery. Avoid inhaling dust directly while cleaning.
- Step 1 – Empty and wash dirt cup: Remove the dirt cup and wash it with mild soap and water. Dry thoroughly.
- Step 2 – Clean filters: Tap out dust and, if allowed, wash foam filters with water. Do not wash HEPA filters unless the manual explicitly permits it; replace instead.
- Step 3 – Clean hose and tools: Wipe the inside of the hose and tools with a slightly damp cloth and allow to dry completely.
- Step 4 – Replace filters: If odor persists, replace the pre-motor and exhaust filters with new Dirt Devil filters.
