Dirt Devil
Cyclone / Filter Restriction Causing Motor Surging
Vacuum pulses on and off repeatedly while running, especially on carpet
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Overfilled dirt cup, Fine dust clogging cyclone shroud, Severely restricted filters
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and remove the battery before servicing filters.
- Step 1 – Empty and clean bin: Empty the dirt cup and use a soft brush to clean the cyclone shroud holes.
- Step 2 – Deep clean filters: Remove all filters. Tap out dust and, if permitted, rinse foam filters with water. Allow 24 hours to dry.
- Step 3 – Check seals: Inspect the bin and filter seals for deformation or gaps that could cause pressure fluctuations.
- Step 4 – Test without nozzle: Run the vacuum with just the main body (no wand or tools). If pulsing stops, the restriction is in the wand or nozzle; inspect and clear them.
