Vacuum will not stand upright on its own (for stick models designed to self-stand)

Safety first: Remove the battery before working near the hinge or stand mechanism.

• Step 1 – Inspect hinge: Check the joint where the handle meets the floor nozzle for cracks or missing parts.
• Step 2 – Clean mechanism: Remove any debris from the locking area that might prevent the stand lock from engaging.
• Step 3 – Test lock: Gently move the handle into the upright position and listen for a click. If it does not lock, the latch may be broken.
• Step 4 – Replace parts: Replace the stand lock mechanism or floor nozzle assembly as specified for your Dirt Devil model.
