Possible Causes
Clogged main air path, Blocked floor nozzle, Failing main suction motor, Blocked pre-motor filter
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the vacuum OFF and remove the battery pack before any inspection. Never work on the unit while it is powered.
- Check for clogs: Remove the wand and floor nozzle from the handheld unit. Look through the wand and nozzle for blockages (hair, debris, small objects). Clear any obstruction using a long brush or flexible rod.
- Inspect the cyclone and dust bin: Empty the dust container. Remove the cyclone assembly and check for compacted dust around the cyclone cones and inlet. Rinse the cyclone (if the manual allows) and let it dry completely for at least 24 hours.
- Clean the pre-motor filter: Remove the pre-motor filter (often a foam or fabric filter behind the dust bin). Tap it gently to remove dust. If washable, rinse with lukewarm water only, no detergent. Allow to dry fully (24 hours) before reinstalling.
- Test without accessories: Reinstall the dry filter and bin. Run the vacuum in normal mode without the wand or nozzle. If E1 no longer appears, the issue is likely in the wand or nozzle. If E1 persists, the main suction motor may be overheating or drawing too much current.
- When to call a technician: If the vacuum still shows E1 with all filters clean and no clogs, the main suction motor or motor control board may be failing and should be tested and replaced by a qualified technician.
