Possible Causes

Blocked air flow through cyclone, Severely clogged filters, Blocked exhaust grille, Failing motor cooling fan

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch OFF the vacuum and remove the battery. Allow the unit to cool for at least 30 minutes before further checks.

  • Inspect and clean filters: Remove the dust bin and take out the pre-motor and HEPA/post-motor filters. Tap off loose dust outdoors. If the manual states they are washable, rinse under lukewarm water and let them dry completely (minimum 24 hours). Never reinstall damp filters.
  • Check exhaust vents: Locate the exhaust grille near the rear of the handheld unit. Use a soft brush to remove lint and dust blocking the vents.
  • Check for internal clogs: Look into the air inlet behind the dust bin and into the cyclone assembly. Remove any compacted dust or hair that could restrict airflow.
  • Test in short intervals: Reassemble with dry filters and run the vacuum for 1–2 minutes at a time. If E2 no longer appears, the issue was restricted airflow. If it still overheats quickly, the motor cooling fan or motor windings may be damaged.
  • Professional service: Persistent E2 after cleaning indicates a failing motor or temperature sensor. Contact an authorized Electrolux service center for motor assembly replacement.
