Possible Causes
Shorted battery cells, Damaged battery management system (BMS), Short in main wiring harness, Shorted motor windings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery pack immediately. If the battery feels hot or swollen, place it on a non-flammable surface away from flammable materials and do not use it again.
- Inspect the battery pack: Check for swelling, cracks, or signs of leakage. Do not puncture or open the pack. If any damage is visible, discontinue use and recycle the battery according to local regulations.
- Check contacts and wiring: Inspect the battery contacts on both the pack and the vacuum for bent pins, corrosion, or debris. Clean gently with a dry cloth. Do not use liquids.
- Try a different battery (if available): If you have a second compatible Electrolux battery, install it and test the vacuum. If E4 disappears, the original battery pack is faulty.
- If E4 persists with a known-good battery: There may be a short in the main motor, floor nozzle motor, or internal wiring harness. Disconnect the floor nozzle and wand, then test the handheld unit alone. If it runs normally, the short is in the nozzle or wand.
- Professional repair: Shorts in the wiring harness, PCB, or motor assemblies require professional diagnosis and replacement.
