Possible Causes

Blocked floorhead air path, Severely clogged cyclone assembly, Failing main suction motor, Obstructed extension wand

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the vacuum OFF and remove the battery pack before clearing any blockages.

  • Step 1 – Check for obvious blockages: Remove the floorhead, extension wand, and bin/cyclone assembly. Look through each section for clogs (hair, dust wads, small objects). Remove debris by hand or with a non-metal tool.
  • Step 2 – Inspect the cyclone assembly: Detach the cyclone from the dust bin. Tap it gently over a trash can to dislodge fine dust. Do not wash the cyclone unless the Essentials manual explicitly states it is washable.
  • Step 3 – Clean filters: Remove the pre-motor and post-motor filters (often foam or HEPA cartridges). Tap off loose dust and, if labeled washable, rinse under cold water until clear. Allow at least 24 hours to dry completely before reinstalling.
  • Step 4 – Reassemble and test: Refit all components securely, reinstall the battery, and run the vacuum on a lower power mode first. If E2 no longer appears, the issue was likely a blockage or restricted airflow.
  • Step 5 – Motor assessment: If E2 returns with all airways clear and clean filters, the main suction motor may be drawing excessive current due to internal wear. At this point, replacement of the motor assembly is recommended.

Warning: Do not run the vacuum with removed filters or open airways, as this can damage the motor and expose you to dust.
