Possible Causes

Hair or string wrapped around brushroll, Jammed brush bearings, Obstructed brush motor gearbox, Damaged brushroll motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch OFF the vacuum and remove the battery pack before working on the floorhead.

  • Step 1 – Remove the floorhead: Detach the motorized floorhead from the wand or handheld body.
  • Step 2 – Access the brushroll: Open the brushroll cover (usually via a release latch or coin-slot screws). Carefully lift out the brushroll.
  • Step 3 – Clear tangles: Use scissors to cut away hair, threads, and fibers wrapped around the brushroll and end caps. Avoid cutting the bristles.
  • Step 4 – Check end caps and bearings: Rotate the brushroll by hand. It should spin freely. If it feels gritty or seized at the ends, clean the bearing area with a dry cloth. If still stiff, the brushroll assembly may need replacement.
  • Step 5 – Inspect the brush motor area: Look inside the floorhead for debris around the drive gears or belt (if fitted). Remove any obstructions gently.
  • Step 6 – Reassemble and test: Refit the brushroll and cover securely, reinstall the battery, and test on a hard floor first. If E3 persists, the brush motor may be overheating or failing and should be replaced.

Warning: Never operate the floorhead while it is partially disassembled. Keep fingers away from the brushroll when power is applied.
