Possible Causes
Filters washed but not fully dried, Organic debris left in dust bin for long periods, Mold growth on foam filters, Liquid vacuumed into non-wet model
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery before cleaning. Do not operate the vacuum with wet filters.
- Thoroughly clean dust bin: Empty the bin and wash it with mild detergent and warm water. Rinse well and dry completely.
- Wash or replace filters: Wash foam filters with mild soap if allowed by the manual. Let them air dry for at least 24 hours until completely dry. Replace HEPA filters that smell bad or show discoloration.
- Avoid liquids: Do not vacuum liquids unless your ETA model is specifically designed for wet use. Liquid ingestion can cause odors and damage.
- Air out the vacuum: Leave the main body and bin open in a dry, ventilated area for several hours to dissipate residual odors.
When to call a technician: If odor persists after full cleaning and filter replacement, internal contamination may require disassembly and professional cleaning.
