ETA Severely Reduced Battery Capacity

Cordless vacuum runs for only a few minutes on a full charge before shutting off.

Possible Causes

Aged Li-ion cells with high internal resistance, Battery pack stored fully discharged for long periods, Repeated deep discharges damaging cells, Faulty BMS misreporting capacity

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not continue to run the vacuum if the battery or housing becomes excessively hot.

  • Perform several full charge cycles: Fully charge the battery, then use the vacuum until it automatically shuts off. Repeat this 2–3 times to recalibrate the BMS. Avoid running in MAX mode during these cycles.
  • Use ECO mode: Switch to ECO/low power mode to see if runtime improves significantly. If runtime is still very short, the battery cells are likely worn out.
  • Check battery age: If the battery is more than 2–3 years old or has been heavily used, replacement is usually required.
  • Inspect for swelling: Remove the battery and check for bulging or deformation. If present, stop using it immediately and arrange safe disposal.

When to call a technician: A battery that cannot hold charge must be replaced. Purchase a genuine ETA replacement pack or have an authorized service center perform the replacement.
