Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the charger and remove the battery from the vacuum before cleaning contacts.
- Inspect battery and handle contacts: Look closely at the metal contacts and any smaller data pins on the battery and vacuum handle. If bent, do not force them; contact service. If dirty, gently clean with a dry cloth or a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol. Allow to dry fully.
- Use only original ETA batteries: Ensure the battery is a genuine ETA pack designed for your specific cordless model. Third-party packs may not communicate correctly and can trigger E7.
- Reseat the battery: Insert the battery firmly until it clicks. Remove and reinsert a few times to improve contact.
- Test charging directly: If your model allows charging the battery outside the vacuum (on a docking station), try that. If it charges fine externally but shows E7 in the vacuum, the issue is likely in the vacuum’s PCB or connector.
When to call a technician: If E7 persists with a known-good original ETA battery, the communication circuit on the main PCB or the connector assembly may need replacement by a professional.
