Possible Causes
Main brush jammed with hair or debris, Brush motor overheating, Brush bearings seized, Brush housing clogged
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the vacuum OFF and remove it from the charging base. If the battery is removable, take it out before working on the brush.
- Inspect the main brush: Remove the floor head from the wand. Release the brush roll cover (usually side cap or bottom latch) and pull out the brush roll.
- Clear hair and fibers: Use scissors or a seam ripper to cut away hair, threads, and pet fur wrapped around the brush and end caps. Rotate the brush by hand to ensure it spins freely.
- Check end caps and bearings: Remove the end caps (if removable) and clean any debris. If the brush feels rough or stiff when rotated, the bearings may be worn and the brush roll should be replaced.
- Clean brush housing: Inspect the brush chamber and suction channel for blockages (paper, toys, large debris). Remove all obstructions.
- Cool down the motor: If the vacuum shut off due to overload, let the floor head sit for 20–30 minutes before testing again.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall the brush roll and cover securely. Reattach the head, reinstall the battery, and test on a clean floor. If E1 returns immediately with a free-spinning brush, the brush motor or internal wiring may be faulty and should be checked or replaced by a technician.
